Diamonds Are Forever, but a Gel Eye Mask That Contains Pure Diamonds? Is It Worth the Money?

IMG_0346

This week I tested out a product I received inside of a Glossy Box which I received inside of a StyleCon Starlet Bag. The product is called Kristals Diamond Select Anti-Gravity Spark Eye Mask by Kristals Cosmetics. I have not heard of this cosmetics brand before so I was not sure what to expect. First of all, I’ve never tested an eye mask before so this is my first time trying this type of product. Also, I did not receive this product for free, nor are there any affiliate links in this post. Now that we’ve got that out of the way let’s get down to it.

What piqued my interest about this particular product is that according to Kristals Cosmetics this gel eye mask is special because it contains pure diamonds:

Skin virtually defies gravity when enhanced with the power of pure diamond as it lifts and firms while brightening and hydrating, building a cushion of density into time-thinned skin that helps erase the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Pure diamond powder also sloughs off old cells, making skin luminous by enabling youthful skin within to appear, reducing the appearance of sun damage.

According to the company’s website this product claims to:

  • Restore vibrancy and moisture to the eye area
  • Dramatically reduce the wrinkles in the eye area
  • Brighten and minimize dark circles
  • Plump the skin with hydration and refine texture for softer, smoother, healthier looking skin
  • Use diamond powder to work in harmony with collagen; the combo makes collagen contract and firm to reduce skin sagging and wrinkles
  • Maintain hydration for 24 hours with the mixture of Lavender and Chamomile which penetrates and seals in ingredients’ essence

This particular kit packet came with 2 sets of gel eye masks. Pictured below is one of the sets of gel eye masks that I ended up using. They come in a sealed airtight foil pack so they are tamper proof.

As the instructions had said I thoroughly washed my face (it was after a shower, no makeup or any other skincare products or filters!)

Before:

I kept the mask on for a solid 15 minutes (timed it!) During:

IMG_0345.jpg

After 15 minutes, took off the gel eye masks and gently patted in remaining emulsion as instructed according to the box. Here are the results (no filter!):

I’m not sure if you’re able to tell in the photo to what degree the masks affected the eye area. I did notice the under eye area was very well-moisturized. I can definitely say it brightened the under eye area and got rid of the dark circles that were there. I did feel it plumped the texture of the skin in that area thus reducing lines under the eyes (which I have very minimal of to begin with.) I can’t speak for the sagging skin claim as I do not yet have sagging under eye skin. I do feel this product does what it claims to do. I just feel it is on the pricier side for an under eye gel mask. However, I do feel it lives up to its claims. What I thought was interesting about this product is its pricing. On their company website you can by a 12 pack for $399.95. That’s right, no typo, three hundred ninety-nine USDs and ninety-five cents so $33 something USDs a set.

Have you tried this particular product before? What are your thoughts? Have you tried any gel eye masks before that you think I should check out? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! Be sure to follow along on social media for more fun and reviews! Instagram and Twitter.

3 Blushes That Complement Brown Skin

My favorite makeup product to use when the weather gets cooler is blush. I love blush because in the autumn and winter seasons it gives skin a sun-free glow which is more natural looking this time of year. Blush not only adds life to your face, but makes your complexion brighter and more radiant even when the cold weather dulls the appearance of skin. Here are some blushes I tested out that go well with NC42 (in MAC) skin tone. (Note: I did not receive any of these products for free nor are any of the following affiliate links.)
  1. Feisty by Tarte Cosmetics. First of all, I’m a huge fan of Tarte Cosmetics. I have not run into a single product of theirs that I did not like. So when I received Feisty in my Ipsy beauty glam bag in November. I was thrilled. Feisty is a dusty rose color that comes in a compact form with a mirror making it great for travel and is created to last 12 hours as it is infused with Amazonian clay so it will stay vibrant whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin. From my experience, this blush has lasted all day and the color adds life and dimension to my face when worn over foundation and definitely lasts through an entire work day.

  2. Desert Rose by Mac Cosmetics. This is actually the first blush I ever used. I discovered this while at a Mac Cosmetics Counter in college and one of the artists matched me with this shade. At the time I was a shade tanner, but this color looked lovely regardless even as I got paler over the years from cubicle dwelling. Desert Rose is a powder blush that is a soft red-burgundy shade with a matte finish. If I had to choose a matte blush to wear this would be the one. As with most Mac products, this product is not only vibrant, full of pigment, but also lasts all day.

  3. Mineral Blush Autumn Glow by BellaPierre Cosmetics. This is hands down my favorite blush and I couldn’t think of a better name for this blush than Autumn Glow because that is exactly the look it gives you. I originally discovered this brand through Ipsy and have yet to find a product of theirs that I do not like. Autumn Glow by BellaPierre Cosmetics is actually a loose mineral blush so this can get a bit messy, but it is worth it. The shade is a beautiful peachy bronze which complements brown skin perfectly. I love this shade because it is luminous, easy to blend, and not chalky at all. This blush is on the pricier side, but a small amount of this product goes a long way. I use this particular blush as a highlighter as it has a beautiful luminous finish. When applied properly this gives you that “glowing from within” look.

Mask Monday: TONYMOLY Propolis Mask Sheet

honey-1958464_1920I’ve recently hopped on the bandwagon of Korean sheet masks, but have always been a fan of Korean beauty products. I prefer sheet masks over other masks since they are easier to clean up, don’t clog up my drains with gunk, and I can more easily control where the product goes on. I’ve experimented with the TONYMOLY Propolis Mask Sheet on Amazon as it came in a variety pack I had purchased.

Why this piqued my interest: It contains propolis. According to britannica.com, propolis is what honeybees collect from buds of trees, for sealing cracks in the hive and for covering foreign objects in the hive that they cannot remove.

What it is/does: TONYMOLY Propolis Mask Sheet is a 100% cotton sheet mask that is meant to soothe skin. All you do is tear open the package and leave it on for 20-30 minutes and remove it.

Price: $4.00 USD

IMG_5047My experience: I went ahead and left it on my face for 30 minutes after showering before bed. I did not rinse it off with water instead I patted off excess residue. This mask, as I had suspected, did leave a sticky residue, but I did wake up with smooth, soft, supple skin. I also noticed that the nasolabial folds by my mouth had almost disappeared by morning after a long weekend out and about in the sun. This mask is not too bad for the price point, but I prefer other TONYMOLY masks over this one in particular.

3 Drugstore Anti-Aging Products That Actually Work

So I just hit the big 30, but people are always shocked when I tell them how old I actually am. However, I look younger now than I did when I was in my 20s and it boils down to proper skincare and routine maintenance. I discovered my first forehead wrinkle in my late 20s and noticed a few other types of wrinkles and prominent lines on my face that I hadn’t noticed before and fortunately I was able to get rid of these wrinkles and lines and you can too! (FYI: none of the links are affiliate links nor was I paid to review any of these products.)

After trying many products I finally found three affordable drugstore anti-aging products that actually worked on getting rid of the wrinkles instead of just temporarily hiding them.

PRODUCT: ROC RETINOL CORREXION DEEP WRINKLE SERUM The ROC RETINOL CORREXION DEEP WRINKLE SERUM

WHAT IT CLAIMS: It’s meant to help visibly reduce both fine lines and deep wrinkles. This product claims it takes approximately 12 weeks to reduce deep wrinkles, however, it worked for me in two weeks.

WHAT IT DID FOR ME: This was the one product that head on got rid of the noticeable wrinkle between my eyebrows within two weeks and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. For some reason no other product worked on that specific part of my face.
I ended up buying this at Ulta, but you can find it at almost any drugstore including Target. This is seriously a miracle product.

PRODUCT: L’OREAL REVITALIFT VOLUME FILLER CREAM

WHAT IT CLAIMS: This product is all about moisturizing your skin and creating skin volume. It’s meant for volumizing skin to restore its atural fullness & replenish moisture for a more youthful look.

WHAT IT DID FOR ME: First of all, I never considered buying this product until a beautician at Target recommended it to me. It did exactly what it said it would do, it firms/volumizes your skin and reduces any fine lines. It’s great to wear over night. I put it on at night and woke up with much more supple skin. My face definitely looked different when I woke up – it looked plumper. This is great if you’ve lost a lot of weight or have a dehydrated look due to a night out of retoxing.

PRODUCT: THE BOOTS NO7 PROTECT & PERFECT INTENSE BEAUTY SERUM

WHAT IT CLAIMS: This product claims to visibly reduce deep lines and wrinkles in 4 weeks with an active peptide and patented antioxidant complex. It worked within a week for me.

WHAT IT DID FOR ME: The reason this product is my favorite is because it smoothed out the deep nasolabial folds (laugh lines around the mouth) on my face so they aren’t as prominent anymore. I didn’t think this was even possible until I used this product for two weeks.

3 Relaxing Places to Enjoy Nature in Huntington Beach

15977941_1202672956477347_2815106058158942942_n

If you’re like me and like to enjoy nature at a leisurely pace and really like to just soak it in peacefully without the crowds or having to spend money, then this post is for you. The following are three of my favorite places to relax and enjoy nature in Huntington Beach.

  1. Huntington Beach Central Park is hands down my favorite place to go to for a walk after work during golden hour when I simply need to clear my mind and get some clean fresh air. My favorite thing to do at this park is to sit down at one of the park benches by the lake and just observe nature. This is my happy place. This park is a few hundred acres and contains all types of hidden gems from restaurants, lakes, exercise courses, and much more. This place has lots of free parking, especially by the central library. You’ll see all types of animals here from the basic squirrels, rabbits, ducklings, to Egyptian geese and occasionally the solitary egret. The park even has equestrian trails, which I still have yet to check out. img_5055
  2. Shipley Nature Center is actually located inside of Huntington Beach Central Park. There’s no fee to enter and parking is free. This nature center is tucked away into the park, but it was bigger and more intricate than I expected and definitely worth checking out. I took a self-guided tour as the trails are easy to follow with many interesting things to see along the way.img_5056
  3. The Secret Garden is a cute little escape tucked away in Central Park.  The garden has various flowers and there are always photographers taking pictures of the various flora and fauna during golden hour. I didn’t discover this park until I attended a Cherry Blossom Festival a few months ago despite all the times I had gone into the park before.img_5058
